Description:
As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will build and maintain the AWS infrastructure supporting our enterprise engineering tool platforms. Working alongside senior architects, you'll implement Infrastructure as Code, support environment provisioning, and help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of platforms that Blue Origin's engineering teams depend on daily.
This is a hands-on technical role for someone ready to deepen their expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure and enterprise engineering tool backend operations.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure for PLM
- Deploy and maintain AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, EFS, S3, RDS, ALB, Lambda) supporting Teamcenter and Windchill environments.
- Implement established patterns for multi-tier PLM application architectures on AWS.
- Follow and enforce standards for resource tagging, naming conventions, and cost optimization.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
- Write and maintain IaC using Terraform, Ansible, and/or CloudFormation based on established architectural patterns.
- Build and maintain deployment pipelines for PLM infrastructure changes.
- Automate routine administrative tasks, patching, and scaling operations.
PLM Backend Support
- Perform backend maintenance, configuration changes, and upgrades for Teamcenter and Windchill under senior guidance.
- Support environment provisioning for development, test, and production tiers.
- Manage and monitor database infrastructure (Oracle, MS SQL, RDS) supporting PLM platforms.
Security & Compliance
- Implement security policies aligned with AWS Well-Architected Framework and organizational standards.
- Manage IAM policies, roles, and access controls as directed.
- Support security audits and remediation activities.
Monitoring & Reliability
- Configure and maintain observability solutions (e.g. Datadog, Splunk).
- Execute backup and recovery procedures; validate disaster recovery processes.
- Monitor system health and escalate or resolve performance issues.
Collaboration & Growth
- Partner with senior engineers, PLM application teams, and IT operations.
- Maintain documentation including runbooks, configuration records, and troubleshooting guides.
- Continuously develop AWS and engineering tool platform knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in AWS cloud infrastructure administration.
- 1+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications in a cloud or hybrid environment (PLM experience a strong plus).
- Working experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
- Foundational knowledge of networking, security, and multi-tier application architectures.
- Experience with relational databases (RDS, Oracle, or MS SQL).
- Proficiency in Linux server environments.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD concepts.
- Must be a U.S. Person (required for compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations).
