Community Editor

Description:

Vox Media is seeking a Community Editor to moderate and manage discussions across its SB Nation network, consisting of nearly 200 communities focused on sports teams. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring respectful, engaging, and safe community interactions while supporting editorial and administrative tasks as needed. This is a 12-month temporary position and is fully remote.

Key Responsibilities:

• Moderate user comments and interactions, approving or rejecting content, and enforcing community guidelines.

• Engage with community members professionally, including issuing warnings, suspensions, or bans when necessary.

• Document moderation actions and communicate with managers and community leaders.

• Collaborate with community leaders to tailor moderation approaches.

• Monitor user-generated content and assist with curation for community homepages.

• Investigate moderation disputes in coordination with supervisors.

• Understand sports terminology and community context to make informed moderation decisions.

• Maintain open communication with team members, managers, and site managers.

• Conduct non-moderation tasks such as copyediting, community administration, or other duties approved by management.

• Be an expert on SB Nation’s user agreement and community guidelines.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and address inappropriate content.

• Familiarity with sports culture and internet community behavior.

• Ability to work collaboratively with team members at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building communities on social media.

• Knowledge of SEM, SEO, social media, YouTube, and email marketing.

• Passion for digital publishing and working in fast-paced editorial environments.

Work Environment:

• Fully remote position.

• Temporary full-time role, benefits-eligible.
