Description:

Leica Microsystems, a renowned leader in optical and digital imaging solutions, is seeking a Microscopy / Confocal Sales Specialist to join their Life Science Research Division. This remote position is based in the DC Metro Area, covering both government and non-government accounts, and is designed for professionals passionate about cutting-edge microscopy and its application in scientific and clinical research.

In this customer-facing, consultative sales role, the Sales Specialist will focus on confocal microscopy and related imaging technologies, working closely with Key Account Managers and other team members to drive product adoption and revenue. You will serve as a technical advisor to clients, identify cross-selling opportunities, generate leads across product lines, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.

The role requires a strong scientific background, preferably in biology or chemistry, and significant hands-on experience with biological imaging systems. You’ll be expected to use your understanding of confocal imaging, optics, and software applications to train and support researchers, develop field data and publications, and manage opportunities using tools like Salesforce.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Technical consultative selling of confocal microscopy systems

  • Collaborating with the wider sales team on strategic account activities

  • Identifying new leads and opportunities, particularly in widefield microscopy portfolios

  • Ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction in both commercial and academic environments

  • Managing the complete sales pipeline from opportunity creation to closure

  • Generating application notes and supporting customer publications

Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related scientific discipline

  • Proficiency in confocal and fluorescence microscopy

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and client engagement skills

  • Familiarity with government and research institutions in the DC region

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally and internationally

  • Ability to lift and transport equipment (up to 25 lbs)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in microscopy equipment sales

  • Experience teaching or training on imaging techniques and equipment
