Credit Analyst

Description:

A reputable banking client is seeking an experienced Credit Analyst to join their Credit Administration team based in NYC or Greenwich, CT. This role requires a strong background in commercial lending, underwriting, and portfolio management within the banking or financial services industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete financial spreads and cash flow analyses as part of underwriting various types of commercial loans.

• Prepare and analyze credit information for both potential and existing clients.

• Oversee and manage a loan portfolio including monitoring client compliance, collecting required annual financials, resolving financial and collateral exceptions, processing loan renewals and modifications, and conducting site visits.

• Generate Management Information Reports related to the bank’s loan portfolio.

• Analyze business and individual tax returns and financial statements to distinguish recurring vs. non-recurring cash flows, including detailed examination of complex documents like K-1 statements and Schedule E.

• Utilize the bank’s financial spreading software and Credit Approval Request forms to prepare cash flows.

• Collect, analyze, and interpret internal data to create insightful reports that aid strategic decision-making by management, highlighting key trends and performance metrics.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in economics, finance, business, or accounting.

• At least 4 years of commercial lending, underwriting, and portfolio management experience within banking or financial services.

• Prior experience as an analyst or in portfolio management is required.

• Strong credit analysis skills with the ability to prepare detailed financial spreads and cash flow models.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong service orientation toward internal and external customers.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• High intellectual curiosity, motivation, and strong analytical thinking.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experienced with the bank’s financial spreading software and loan origination systems.

• Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
