Major Responsibilities

• Manage high quality, fully functional, safe facilities and exhibits in delivery of satisfying visitor experiences for both Greenville and Spartanburg operations and applicable outreach programs
• Provide strategic direction to technical staff related to preventive and routine maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and security throughout the buildings, grounds, and parking lots. Supervise and support by working alongside team as needed.
• Oversee successful facilities and exhibit upgrades, fabrication, installations, and tear-downs, de-installations advocating for facilities and exhibits needs to executive leadership
• Build relationships with subcontractors and vendors for proactive technical support and emergency response
• Create and manage capital and operational budgets, KPI’s and work order scheduling and reporting

Predominant Tasks

• Lead, mentor and coach staff to ensure on-going and exceptional guest experience prioritizing both safety and security throughout TCMU’s two locations
• Contribute to the planning and management of capital projects including exhibit creation and facility maintenance and improvement
• Ensure prompt response and proper diagnosis of infrastructure and exhibit failure using best troubleshooting practices to minimize downtime
• Cultivate and manage outside contractors and vendors as extensions of the Facilities and Exhibits team to cover the technological, electro-mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, landscaping and construction needs of the Museum
• Represent facilities and exhibits as a key member of TCMU’s leadership team researching new and best practices in the field and strategizing long-range departmental needs with executive leadership
• Liaise with and support cross-functional teams to support Development sponsors, retail, guest and member experiences, Admissions knowledge of exhibit conditions and facility messaging, Programming and special events

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in facilities management and/or exhibit fabrication and repair
• 2+ years supervisory experience working in a team setting where a high degree of daily communication is required
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in cooperation with all levels of leadership and other Museum departments
• Professional and confident, with positive attitude towards work and enthusiasm for Museum’s mission
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead complex teams
• Flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours as needed
