QUALIFICATIONS:

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one of the following three options:
  • Two years of college study.
  • An associate’s or higher degree.
  • A passing score on the District reading, writing and math assessment.
• Also supplemented by college level work or special vocational training in Special Education principles and practices, behavior management, and/or procedures related to basic physical/medical needs and personal hygiene. Two years of responsible instructional assistance experience, preferably involving contact with students who have some form of learning or physical disability or special cultural, social/behavioral needs.
• Experiences working with students who have moderate to severe physical and behavioral disabilities preferred.
• Assists in the planning and implementing of learning experiences of students enrolled in program; confers with teacher.
• Duties involve working with students who may need feeding, toileting or changing of diapers and restraining, at times, due to aggressive behaviors.
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with fellow employees and ability to get along well with students.
• Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish preferred.
