Description:

Swinerton is seeking a skilled Estimator to join its team in Santa Ana, CA. This role is responsible for overall planning and management of estimating activities for specific construction projects, including preparation, interpretation, and presentation of estimates. The Estimator will play a critical role in ensuring accurate cost analysis, subcontractor coordination, and successful bid submissions while contributing to project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, requirements, and specifications to develop comprehensive estimates.

  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing for construction projects.

  • Coordinate subcontract solicitations, jobwalks, and manage bid processes.

  • Determine labor and construction equipment costs and prepare conceptual estimates.

  • Meet and maintain bidding and project work schedules.

  • Submit requisitions for the purchase of materials and compare trade bids for competitiveness.

  • Collaborate with Project Managers to review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates.

  • Prepare subcontractor bid lists and distribute drawings to subcontractors.

  • Participate actively in bid compilation on bid day and assist jobsite staff after award.

  • Perform post-bid buyouts as required and maintain strong supplier/subcontractor relationships.

  • Supervise, mentor, and train estimating staff when applicable.

  • Complete other related responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or equivalent experience.

  • At least 3 years of project engineering or related construction estimating experience.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings.

  • Excellent analytical, judgment, and calculation skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of construction costs, principles, and estimating practices.

  • Familiarity with drafting and construction-related computer software.
