Field Technician

 

Description:

ONEOK, a Fortune 500 midstream service provider with over a century of industry leadership, is seeking a Field Technician to join their operations in Mason City, Iowa. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting operational equipment including loading rack terminals, pump stations, and remote valve sites. The position requires both technical and mechanical acumen and involves hands-on work across electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical systems.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Overtime and on-call responsibilities are included

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain pipeline systems and associated equipment including large diesel engines, pumps, valves, electric motors, and control systems.

  • Perform testing, inspection, and repair work on electronic and pneumatic instrumentation, measurement systems, and programmable logic controllers.

  • Work with medium voltage (up to 4,160 volts), three-phase electrical systems.

  • Interpret technical documents like repair orders, schematics, pressure readings, and manuals.

  • Participate actively in safety training and ensure compliance with System Integrity Plans and U.S. DOT Operator Qualification standards.

  • Manage and document maintenance projects and records in alignment with safety and environmental protocols.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma (required)

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with manual and power tools, control devices, and electronic testing equipment.

  • Familiarity with governmental safety codes, company safety procedures, and reliability programs.

  • Knowledge in combustion engines, pneumatic compressors, and control systems.

  • Strong mathematical, communication, and technical reading abilities.

  • Ability to travel within assigned areas and operate a company vehicle.

Physical Requirements:

  • This is a physically demanding role requiring heavy lifting (50–100 lbs), climbing, stooping, and working in various environmental conditions including heat, cold, and exposure to dust and fumes.

  • Constant use of vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and repetitive motion is expected.

Work Environment:

  • Both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to extreme weather, mechanical parts, electrical systems, and loud noise levels.

Travel & Driving:

  • Frequent travel expected within assigned locations; a valid driver’s license is required for use of a company vehicle.
