Maintenance Technician

 

Description:

The Maintenance Technician – Electrician performs a wide range of critical tasks related to the installation, repair, and modification of electrical systems and equipment within the manufacturing facility. This role focuses on the generation, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy to support safe and efficient plant operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety & Compliance
 

  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of safety protocols when working around hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Maintains compliance with NFPA 70E, NEC, and applicable OSHA standards
  • Shows consistent commitment to electrical safety, especially in high-pressure situations

Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting
 

  • Diagnoses and resolves issues in electrical systems and equipment using standard load computations and testing procedures
  • Utilizes electrician’s hand tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment effectively
  • Performs visual and mechanical inspections to ensure machinery remains in optimal condition for quality production
  • Troubleshoots and repairs medium voltage systems (480 VAC / 750 VDC)
  • Maintains and tests transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), and electrical area classifications

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
 

  • Follows the company’s preventive maintenance program, conducting regular inspections and taking proactive measures
  • Performs both minor and major building repairs to maintain facility integrity
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives within the work area

Systems Knowledge & Equipment Handling
 

  • Experienced with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Skilled in mechanical systems maintenance and repair
  • Proficient in working with:
    • Three-phase motors
    • DC motors and motor controls
    • Servo motors and controls
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs – AC/DC)
    • Analog circuits (0–10 VDC, 4–20 mA)
    • Communication protocols (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.)

Documentation & Interpretation
 

  • Reads and interprets electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals with precision

Leadership & Collaboration
 

  • Provides on-the-job guidance to new maintenance personnel and those assisting with maintenance tasks
  • May be assigned additional duties or special projects by the Team Leader
     

Qualifications
 

High School Diploma or recognized equivalent. Minimum of (3) five years related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience.
