OPUS Interior, a premier construction management firm with specialization in high-end residential and hospitality projects in NYC and Miami, is seeking a full-time Financial Controller to join its Manhattan-based team. As the Financial Controller, you will be entrusted with the comprehensive oversight of the firm’s financial health, playing a pivotal role in supporting executive decisions with accurate reporting and strategic financial insights. This is a leadership role requiring hands-on expertise in job costing, forecasting, budgeting, and compliance, specifically tailored to a dynamic construction project environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise all accounting operations: accounts payable and receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
Prepare and manage budgets and detailed job cost reports for multiple active construction projects.
Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and ensure compliance.
Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and performance reports.
Lead cash flow planning efforts and deliver accurate forecasting with variance analysis.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure budget adherence and accurate financial tracking.
Manage external audits and maintain communication with banks, insurance brokers, and accountants.
Ensure timely tax filings and adherence to all applicable financial regulations.
Continuously evaluate and refine financial software, systems, and reporting processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
At least 5 years of senior-level financial or accounting experience, preferably in construction or real estate development.
Expertise in project-based accounting, draw schedules, and job costing.
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and standard financial reporting tools.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and ethical.
Strong analytical skills, effective communication, and a collaborative work ethic.
