Description:
Good Samaritan Society, a not-for-profit organization with more than 100 years of service excellence, is seeking a Food Service Assistant – PRN to join its compassionate team at the Maplewood Center in Saint Paul, MN. The facility is a 71-bed community providing post-acute rehabilitation, long-term skilled nursing care, and outpatient therapy programs.
This position is ideal for individuals looking to work in a caring, resident-centered environment that emphasizes quality care, service, and teamwork within a Christian-based mission.
Shift: Evening
Schedule: PRN (As Needed)
Typical Hours: 4:00 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. (2 days one week, no hours the next week)
Prepare, serve, and distribute food and beverages to residents and staff in accordance with established menus and dietary requirements.
Ensure all food items are maintained at proper temperatures and comply with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards.
Set up and maintain clean, organized, and sanitized serving areas and dining spaces.
Clean and sanitize food service equipment, utensils, and preparation areas after each meal period.
Operate various kitchen equipment such as grills, toasters, dishwashers, beverage machines, steam tables, and refrigerators.
Monitor food quantities and restock serving lines and refrigerators as needed.
Process transactions and receive payments using a computerized cash register system.
Demonstrate exceptional customer service by interacting courteously and professionally with residents, visitors, and team members.
Maintain quality control standards and adhere to facility safety, sanitation, and infection control policies.
Display teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to work independently when required.
Minimum Age: 16 years or older.
Education: High school diploma preferred but not required.
Experience: Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or retail customer service preferred.
Skills:
Basic math and cash handling ability.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
Understanding of food safety and sanitation processes.
Physical ability to stand for long hours and walk extended distances.
Certifications:
ServSafe certification may be required (to be obtained within a designated time frame).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required depending on facility policy.
