Description:
The General Manager will oversee the overall performance of The Slice, including guest experience, team leadership, food and beverage operations, simulator and booking operations, financial performance, safety, compliance, and community engagement.
This person will play an important role in preparing The Slice for opening, hiring and training the team, establishing operational procedures, and building a strong culture from day one.
The ideal candidate enjoys hospitality, entertainment, sports, and creating memorable experiences for guests. This person must also be comfortable overseeing food safety and responsible alcohol service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and manage employees
• Build a positive, accountable, and guest focused team culture
• Lead team meetings and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback
• Establish expectations for service, cleanliness, professionalism, safety, and teamwork
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on reservations, events, leagues, and projected traffic
• Ensure employees complete all required food safety and alcohol service training
Guest Experience
• Create a welcoming and memorable experience for every guest
• Regularly interact with guests and address questions or concerns
• Ensure simulator bays, dining areas, bar areas, restrooms, and common spaces remain clean and organized
• Develop service standards that encourage repeat visits and positive reviews
• Resolve guest concerns quickly, professionally, and fairly
Daily Operations
• Oversee opening and closing procedures
• Manage simulator reservations, walk ins, memberships, leagues, parties, and private events
• Ensure golf simulators, televisions, point of sale systems, and other technology are functioning properly
• Coordinate maintenance and service needs with vendors
• Maintain operational supplies and monitor inventory levels
• Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures
Food and Beverage Management
• Oversee food quality, preparation, presentation, and service
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health department, and alcohol service requirements
• Train employees on food handling, allergen awareness, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service
• Manage food, beverage, and bar inventory
• Monitor waste, portion control, product costs, and inventory variances
• Work with ownership and vendors to improve menus, pricing, and profitability
• Help create a fun and approachable food and beverage experience that complements the venue
Financial Performance
• Help manage revenue, labor costs, food costs, beverage costs, and operating expenses
• Review daily and weekly sales reports
• Create schedules that balance guest service with labor efficiency
• Monitor cash handling, deposits, refunds, discounts, and point of sale reporting
• Identify opportunities to increase simulator bookings, food and beverage sales, memberships, leagues, and private events
• Provide regular performance updates to ownership
Marketing and Community Engagement
• Represent The Slice within the Worthington and greater Columbus communities
• Build relationships with local businesses, schools, sports teams, chambers, and community organizations
• Support leagues, tournaments, watch parties, family events, corporate outings, and promotional activities
• Work with the marketing team to promote events, guest experiences, and venue updates
• Encourage guest reviews, referrals, repeat visits, and membership participation
Safety and Compliance
• Maintain compliance with food safety, alcohol service, employment, health, and workplace safety requirements
• Maintain accurate training records, inspection documentation, employee records, and incident reports
• Promote a safe environment for guests and employees
• Maintain or obtain a Level 3 Certified Food Protection Manager certification
• Maintain or obtain Responsible Alcohol Server and Seller Training through a program such as TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol
Required Qualifications
• Previous management experience in hospitality, restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, golf facilities, or a similar environment
• Experience hiring, training, scheduling, and leading employees
• Strong understanding of customer service and guest experience
• Experience overseeing food, beverage, and alcohol operations
• Ability to understand financial reports, labor costs, inventory, food costs, beverage costs, and operating expenses
• Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem solving skills
• Comfortable managing point of sale systems, booking platforms, and venue technology
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast paced environment
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other high traffic periods
• Must possess or be willing to obtain a Level 3 Certified Food Protection Manager certification
• Must possess or be willing to obtain TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol, or comparable responsible alcohol service training
• Must meet all legal requirements related to food service, alcohol service, and employment in Ohio
