Description:
Labor & Employment Attorney | Charlotte, NC
Employment law isn’t a department at this firm. It’s the whole firm.
- I’m Clark Pollins at Distinct Recruitment, recruiting for a national firm that has practiced nothing but labor and employment law, for employers, for more than 60 years.
- That focus changes your day. The colleague down the hall does what you do. The referral that comes through the door is your kind of work.
- They’re hiring at two levels, which is why the range is wide. Senior associates and counsel sit toward the lower end. Partners with a portable book sit at the top and beyond.
Why Charlotte, and why now
- Leadership is backing this office. In April 2026 the firm put a member of its board of directors in charge of Charlotte, a lawyer with more than 25 years at the firm.
- Traditional labor work has a home here. Union campaigns, NLRB matters and collective bargaining are rare skills in North Carolina. If you have them, they’ll get used.
- The Charlotte office is growing.
- Hybrid working is your call.
If you’re a partner
- Your clients are the core business, not a side line. Everything the firm sells is workplace law.
- Multistate employers get one national team, and you get to lead the relationship.
- Origination credit, comp structure and expectations are discussed early and openly.
If you’re a senior associate or counsel
- Promotion has a track record. 16 attorneys were made principal at the start of 2026.
- Your own docket, with direct contact with HR leaders and in house counsel from day one.
- When a question lands outside your expertise, there’s a specialist in the firm who can answer it that afternoon.
The work
- Defending employers in federal and state court, in arbitration, and before the EEOC, NLRB and NC Department of Labor
- Discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, leave and restrictive covenant matters
- Union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining and contract administration
- Advising on handbooks, policies, reductions in force and executive agreements
What they’re looking for
- JD and North Carolina bar admission, or eligible to get it soon
- 5+ years of labor and employment experience on the management side
- You’d rather prevent the lawsuit than win it, and you can win it if you have to
