In this role, the Machine Setup Operator will be responsible for setting up, checking, operating, and adjusting automatic or semi-automatic CNC machining equipment to perform standard or repetitive operations meeting close tolerance and finish requirements. Duties will include recognizing tool and fixture applications, following detailed part drawings, noting and reporting specification variations, assisting with the prove-out of new programs, recommending tooling arrangements and operation sequences, and instructing lower-classification Machine Operators. Precision measuring instruments will be utilized regularly to ensure quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC machines following detailed drawings and specifications.
Recognize appropriate tooling and fixtures.
Monitor and report deviations from specifications.
Assist with proving out new program tapes and recommend improvements.
Instruct Machine Operators on previous programs.
Utilize a variety of precision measuring tools.
Position Requirements:
General knowledge of machine shop practices with up to 2 years of experience or equivalent.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher).
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
