Medical Advocate

Description:

Growing Strong Sexual Assault Center is hiring a full-time Legal/Medical Advocate to support survivors of sexual violence. The advocate will provide legal and medical support, assist survivors in obtaining protective orders, and accompany them during legal and hospital processes. This role requires collaboration with community partners to ensure comprehensive survivor care.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Legal & Medical Advocacy

• Assist survivors with protective orders and legal processes.
• Provide court accompaniment and legal system navigation.
• Accompany survivors to hospitals for sexual assault exams.

🔹 Crisis Support & Survivor Assistance

• Offer emotional support and crisis intervention.
• Work closely with community organizations and law enforcement.
• Ensure survivors receive appropriate resources and referrals.

🔹 Collaboration & Outreach

• Build relationships with legal, medical, and community organizations.
• Advocate for policy improvements supporting survivor rights.
• Educate community partners on sexual violence advocacy.

Qualifications:

✅ Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or Human Services.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to work in sensitive, confidential situations.

✅ Preferred:

• Experience in crisis intervention or advocacy.
• Familiarity with legal and medical systems related to sexual violence cases.
