Description:

Arm is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Performance and PnP (Performance and Power) Modeling Architect to join its world-class engineering team in Austin, TX. The selected candidate will play a critical role in driving performance and power analysis for advanced System-on-Chip (SoC) and System-on-Package (SoP) designs that power devices across multiple markets, including servers, accelerators, client systems, infrastructure, IoT, and automotive platforms.

This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional architecture, design, and customer teams to influence next-generation Arm silicon platforms. The role requires deep technical expertise in computer architecture, performance modeling, workload characterization, and system-level tradeoff analysis. Arm offers a hybrid working model that emphasizes flexibility, collaboration, and innovation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural investigations and PnP tradeoff studies across SoC components such as CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, media, I/O, memory controllers, and interconnects.

  • Conduct workload characterization to identify bottlenecks and design improvements for system efficiency.

  • Collaborate with architects, IP teams, and design groups to align on modeling methodologies and results.

  • Develop and maintain profiling and visualization frameworks to analyze system-level performance and power data.

  • Automate modeling workflows and integrate analysis tools for efficient and scalable performance evaluations.

  • Stay informed on emerging trends in performance/power/thermal modeling, workload analysis, and hardware optimization.

  • Contribute to cross-functional discussions that drive silicon platform innovation and optimization strategies.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in SoC performance modeling and analysis.

  • Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, with deep expertise in computer architecture and microarchitecture.

  • Hands-on experience with CPU/GPU microarchitecture, memory hierarchy, and processor pipelines.

  • Proficiency in C/C++, SystemC TLM, and Python scripting for large-scale performance modeling.

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to conduct data-driven investigations and propose technical solutions.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of interconnect microarchitecture design, PCIe/CXL, and CHI protocols.

  • Familiarity with workloads for system-level performance optimization within power and thermal constraints.

  • Experience in Unix environments, scripting, and version control systems such as Git or Subversion.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving technical challenges.


Work Environment

Compensation and Benefits

  • Monthly Salary: USD 23,608 – 31,941
