Federal Express Corporation is hiring for a PH - Switcher PT (Part-Time) position at its Auburn, WA facility. As a Switcher, you’ll be responsible for performing critical package handling operations during the Preload Sort shift. The position includes moving trailers, assisting in sorting and loading packages, and operating necessary handling equipment. This role plays a key part in maintaining smooth operational flow and accurate package movement within the facility.

This is an ideal role for someone with strong communication skills, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a cohesive team. While experience is not required, prior work as a package handler or CDL/switcher operator is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Move and sort packages using manual and powered equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, chutes, hand-held scanners, and other devices

• Operate switching equipment as needed to reposition trailers for load/unload

• Follow detailed instructions related to safety protocols and operational efficiency

• Identify and sort packages accurately using tracking labels and numeric codes

• Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to ensure workflow integrity

• Maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) documentation and valid driver’s license

Job Requirements:

• Education: None required

• Experience: No prior experience needed; preferred six (6) months in package handling or switching/CDL operator role

• Licenses: Valid driver’s license required

• Skills:

  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely

  • Numerical accuracy and detail orientation for sorting

  • Physical ability to work in variable temperatures, noise, and around fumes

  • Communication and interpersonal skills to function well in a fast-paced team environment

Work Conditions:

• Environment may include hot/cold weather, loud noise, and exposure to vehicle fumes

• Physically demanding role, requiring standing, lifting, and moving packages
