Here is a great opportunity for a Senior Power Trading Analyst to become part of a world renowned retail electricity and power generation company!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct transmission system and congestion analyses, along with price forecasting, to effectively hedge Node-to-Hub delivery basis risks for nuclear, coal, gas, and wind assets.
- Develop and maintain power system models for trading horizons ranging from one month to twenty months into the future.
- Identify speculative CRR/FTR and DAM Point-to-Point trading opportunities by evaluating electric grid performance over both long-term and near-term timeframes.
- Provide expert insights on transmission risks to teams such as Power Trading, Origination, and Development for commercial operations, as well as to Regulatory teams to enhance market performance and grid reliability.
Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in transmission analysis and LMP market modeling, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience using market simulation tools such as UPLAN, Promod, or similar platforms.
- Practical experience in ERCOT and/or PJM transmission systems and nodal market structures.
- Strong focus on achieving book value targets with high ethical standards, ensuring adherence to internal and external regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, VBA for algorithm design and database querying.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets and make well-informed decisions based on the results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present complex analytical studies to management and market forums.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
