Route Switch Engineer

Description:

GDH is looking for a skilled Route Switch Engineer to join their team for a project focused on the refresh of network equipment for a large-scale infrastructure upgrade. This position involves configuring, installing, and troubleshooting Cisco 9300 switches and potentially other networking equipment. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Cisco technologies and a solid background in network configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Upgrade legacy Juniper and older Cisco equipment to Cisco 9300 switches, ensuring optimal configuration and functionality.

• Perform comprehensive Layer 1 surveys to assess site readiness for hardware installations.

• Coordinate and execute remote installations from the Network Automation and Integration Center (NAIC).

• Provide configuration support and validate equipment functionality post-installation.

• Configure Cisco 9300 switches and related networking devices based on project requirements.

• Test and troubleshoot network equipment and configurations to resolve any issues.

• Create and maintain accurate As-Built documentation for configurations, installations, and network layouts.

• Collaborate closely with team members to ensure smooth deployment and integration of new equipment.

Qualifications:

• Strong experience with Cisco routing and switching, particularly Cisco 9300 switches.

• Hands-on experience with Layer 1 network surveys, including site readiness assessments and hardware installations.

• Familiarity with Juniper networking equipment is a plus.

• Expertise in network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, STP, and VLANs.

• Proficiency in network configuration tools and the ability to manually configure switches and routers.

• Experience in network testing and troubleshooting using industry-standard tools (e.g., Wireshark, NetFlow).

• Strong documentation skills, including the creation of As-Built reports and network diagrams.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Certifications such as Cisco CCNP or CCIE are highly desirable.
