Senior Civil Engineer

3P Careers is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager for a hybrid role based in Washington, DC. This opportunity is ideal for civil engineering professionals who specialize in land development, with a strong focus on stormwater management (SWM), drainage systems, erosion and sediment control (ESC), stream restoration, and landscape design. The position involves contributing to projects for both public and private sector clients, offering a broad scope of responsibilities and leadership potential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and reviewing site plans and conceptual layouts using AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design team in producing quality deliverables. Tasks also include grading, SWM, ESC, utility design, site visits, and regulatory permitting and zoning review. This position requires a collaborative professional who is comfortable attending meetings with municipal officials and interfacing with review professionals and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed site plans and layouts using AutoCAD Civil 3D

• Provide CAD support for engineering design staff

• Oversee design of commercial, residential, or mixed-use site and subdivision projects

• Perform grading, stormwater management, erosion control, and utility design

• Manage zoning reviews, regulatory permitting, and attend site visits

• Coordinate with municipal professionals and participate in planning processes

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in land development projects (residential/commercial)

• Proficient in AutoCAD (Civil 3D preferred)

• Strong communication and writing skills

• Knowledge of planning and zoning procedures

• Experience working with regulatory agencies is highly desirable
