Senior Dispatcher

Description:

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT), is seeking a Senior Dispatcher (Night Dispatcher) to manage dispatching operations at their Detroit, MI location. This role involves coordinating transportation logistics, dispatching trucks, handling calls, arranging deliveries, and ensuring smooth operational flow in a high-paced metals recycling and processing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and respond to phone calls; dispatch trucks to supplier or customer locations.

• Enter, update, and retrieve information in software systems to manage dispatch operations effectively.

• Arrange delivery appointments and set up trucks with appropriate boxes for next-day operations.

• Direct truck traffic, communicate with drivers, and provide unloading instructions or next destinations.

• Issue receipts, process customer payments, and ensure all documents are in order for dumping materials.

• Test and operate communication and dispatch equipment, including radio, telephone, and computer systems.

• Optimize equipment logistics and verify scale accuracy.

• Communicate and assist yard employees and weighmasters as necessary.

• Prepare, review, and maintain reports, statistics, and operational records.

• Perform miscellaneous clerical duties, including answering phones and handling documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED required.

• Strong mathematical and organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Pre-employment background screening required.
