Description:
United Airlines is seeking a highly skilled Senior Line Engineer to join their Technical Operations team. This role is responsible for providing 24/7 engineering technical support for United Airlines’ worldwide fleet, ensuring timely return to service and safe, legal operations. The Senior Line Engineer will work on a wide range of aircraft systems, maintenance programs, engines, and operational engineering functions. Using a structured and analytical approach, the engineer studies, analyzes, and solves problems related to aircraft design, operation, maintenance, performance, modification, or repair.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for aircraft systems, engines, and maintenance programs.
Define maintenance programs, configuration, and serviceability criteria to ensure safe operations.
Analyze and implement regulatory requirements and assess the effects of modifications or new equipment.
Conduct cost/benefit analysis for fleet decisions to optimize cost, asset utilization, quality, and reliability.
Lead and develop complex solutions and implementation plans, including project justification and FAA approvals.
Communicate technical issues, work scope recommendations, and failure investigations to internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate with operational groups to ensure airworthiness, safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
Organize and manage priorities to meet deliverables for operational needs, projects, and program changes.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace), related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
Senior Line Engineer I: 5-8 years; Senior Line Engineer II: 8+ years of relevant experience.
Ability to interpret complex engineering and OEM documents.
Project development and management experience for regulatory compliance modifications.
Strong communication skills under time-bound and high-pressure situations.
Working knowledge of airline or OEM operations, CFRs, airworthiness design, aircraft design, and operational characteristics.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
OEM Structural Repairs for Engineers Training (Boeing/Airbus).
Experience designing major repairs for aircraft structures (metallic or composite).
Knowledge of ATA Airline Chapters across systems, structures, power plant, and avionics.
Familiarity with FARs (Parts 21, 25, 26, 43, 121, & 145).
CATIA/AUTOCAD experience.
Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
