Description:
We are seeking a highly capable, hands-on Senior Manager professional to partner directly with the CFO on financial planning, modeling, analytics, forecasting, and strategic decision support.
This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct people-management responsibilities. The CFO remains deeply involved in the FP&A and strategic finance function and is looking for a highly experienced finance professional who can independently own significant portions of the analytical workload.
The ideal candidate is someone who can be given a business question, financial problem, or desired output and independently determine how to approach it, what information is needed, how to structure the analysis, and how to present a clear, actionable conclusion.
This is an opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys being hands-on in Excel, digging into data, building models, solving ambiguous problems, and turning financial information into meaningful business insights.
What You’ll Do
Partner directly with the CFO across a broad range of FP&A and strategic finance initiatives, including:
- Own meaningful portions of the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Build and maintain sophisticated financial models and analytical tools.
- Perform monthly financial and operational analysis and identify key drivers of performance.
- Analyze location, market, and brand-level profitability.
- Conduct detailed variance and trend analysis across financial and operating results.
- Develop and monitor operational KPIs and performance reporting.
- Build and maintain cash flow forecasts and liquidity analyses.
- Prepare EBITDA analyses, bridges, and supporting schedules.
- Develop high-quality financial analysis for the Board, private equity sponsors, lenders, and senior leadership.
- Support strategic decisions through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and investment analysis.
- Evaluate new locations, investments, and other growth opportunities.
- Support M&A modeling, financial diligence, acquisition analysis, and integration efforts.
- Analyze business performance and determine the underlying operational drivers behind financial results.
- Improve existing financial models, reporting processes, analytical tools, and management reporting.
- Translate complex or incomplete financial and operational information into clear recommendations and conclusions.
- Support ad hoc CFO and CEO projects as business priorities evolve.
What Independence Looks Like
The successful candidate should be comfortable receiving assignments such as:
- “Figure out why this market is behind plan.”
- “Update the forecast based on what we're seeing through August.”
- “Build the model for this opportunity.”
- “Analyze profitability by location and determine what's driving the differences.”
- “Build an EBITDA bridge for the Board or lender.”
- “Determine which operating KPIs are driving this variance.”
- “Analyze this investment and tell us what the economics look like.”
- “Take a first pass at the budget for these locations.”
From there, you should be able to independently determine the appropriate approach, gather and organize the necessary information, build the analysis, validate the assumptions, and communicate the answer.
The CFO will collaborate with you, challenge assumptions, and work through complex issues together—but should not need to teach you how to perform FP&A or design routine analyses for you.
What We’re Looking For
- Approximately 7–10+ years of relevant finance, FP&A, strategic finance, consulting, or transaction-related experience; demonstrated capability is more important than an exact number of years.
- Strong financial modeling and advanced Excel skills.
- Deep understanding of financial statements and accounting fundamentals.
- Strong budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed financial and operational analysis.
- Strong understanding of EBITDA, cash flow, profitability, and business drivers.
- Ability to develop meaningful KPIs and management reporting.
- Ability to independently structure and solve ambiguous financial questions.
- Strong business judgment and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain not only what happened, but why it happened, what it means, and what should happen next.
- Comfortable working directly with a CFO and senior leadership.
- Willingness to remain highly hands-on with the actual analysis, modeling, and data.
