Technical Publications Supervisor

 

Description:

The Technical Publications Supervisor is responsible for leading a team in creating, implementing, and maintaining technical publications supporting Test and Evaluation Programs, including laboratory, ground, and flight operations. This position will lead a team in creating documentation for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspections, and functional tests per applicable Supernal and industry guidelines.

This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.

What you can do:
 

  • Supervise a team of technical writers and assign them daily and long-term tasks
  • Performance manage a team of technical writers by setting goals, providing feedback, coaching, and conducting regular performance evaluations
  • Monitor the attendance of technical writers by approving time off requests, making edits to the schedule as necessary, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Continuously monitor processes and procedures, ensuring efficiency and quality, while advising on opportunities for improvement; lead such initiatives as directed
  • Ensure the workforce is appropriately trained for the safe execution of required tasks
  • Create different types of documentation, such as how-to guides, references, manuals, or instructions
  • Supports the team with documentation for system components and engineering artifacts
  • Explain technical ideas in simple language
  • Provide overall leadership of the technical writing tasks
  • Process Owner for all technical documentation on the program
  • Write and edit technical documentation for all of the project’s hardware and software, including installation, configuration, and how-to documentation
  • Produce technical publications from technical documentation, drawings, specifications, standards, and consultations with technical personnel and other available resources
  • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including design, modification, system operations, testing, and user documentation
  • Up to 25% of domestic and international travel
  • Other duties as assigned

     

What you can contribute:
 

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in aviation technical writing (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Experience in Test and Evaluation
  • Distill complex information into clear, concise text
  • Apply writing and grammar skills and deliver accurate documentation under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated expertise in the creation of documentation in conventional and non-conventional formats
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite
