As R&D Embedded Electronics Test Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting testing on embedded electronics in ABB Power Protection products in Richmond, Virginia, ensuring that software and firmware updates are properly validated before releasing to production.

You will develop new and revamp existing software/firmware test procedures and maintain those procedures for future use.

Your responsibilities
 

• Plan, design, and execute, software/firmware testing on embedded electronics platforms.
• Develop new and revamp existing software/firmware test procedures and maintain those procedures.
• Maintain the test case / test plan database.
• Support new product development test programs and product lifecycle verification and validation initiatives.
• Analyzes test results and prepares test reports in partnership with the research and development teams.
• Provides test fixture development and lifecycle support for the research and development team.
• Provide software and firmware support for laboratory test equipment.
   

Your background
 

• A Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, or computer engineering or similar field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in embedded firmware or software working as a test or development engineer with embedded systems in commercial or industrial environments.
• Hands-on experience with software/firmware testing, validation, and debugging tools.
• Preferred Experience:
• Experience in programming and code writing and Microsoft Azure DevOps platform or similar
• Experience with RS-485, RS-232, Modbus, and similar communications protocols.
