SC Novi, a globally recognized search consulting firm, is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a major international vehicle manufacturer to find a qualified Director of Customs and Logistics. This high-impact position is ideal for a logistics and supply chain professional with deep experience in automotive imports, warehousing, and international distribution.

This leadership-level role offers the flexibility of remote work, with a preference for candidates located in California or the Detroit, Michigan area. The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of vehicle import operations, especially from China, and strong managerial capabilities across international teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the end-to-end Automotive Finished Vehicle Import process.

• Manage inbound ocean freight, US-based warehousing, trucking, and rail TL/LTL logistics.

• Lead Customs and Import operations including compliance and documentation.

• Supervise and optimize warehouse and distribution center operations, with emphasis on inventory control.

• Coordinate logistics activities with multiple US and Mexico-based teams.

• Negotiate and manage relationships and contracts with Third-Party Logistics (3PL) providers.

• Leverage import experience from Chinese ports, especially Shanghai, to ensure smooth customs clearance and delivery.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in automotive finished vehicle logistics and importation.

• Direct experience with Asia imports, including shipping via ocean containers and customs processing at Long Beach.

• Familiarity with customs regulations, warehousing, materials management, and 3PL contract negotiation.

• Proven experience in team leadership across multiple locations, including Mexico.
