Description:
The Lead Math Teacher will teach students, diagnose skill gaps, support curriculum development, and help create a strong Texas TEKS-aligned math program for ThinnkBotics. The initial focus will be grades 3-8, Algebra I readiness, and Algebra I support, with room to expand into Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, SAT/ACT math, and advanced problem-solving enrichment.
What You Will Do
- Lead small-group and one-on-one math instruction for students across the K-12 range, with an initial focus on grades 3-8 and Algebra I.
- Assess each student’s current level, identify learning gaps, and create clear learning plans for improvement and acceleration.
- Deliver instruction aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), including STAAR support for grades 3-8 and Algebra I End-of-Course readiness.
- Support students who are working at grade level, below grade level, or above grade level, including accelerated learners preparing for advanced math pathways.
- Help select, organize, and refine curriculum materials, practice assignments, assessments, and parent progress reports.
- Track student progress and communicate clearly with parents about goals, growth, next steps, and recommended practice.
- Contribute ideas for connecting math with robotics, coding, AI, engineering, and real-world STEM applications.
- As the program grows, help train or guide additional math instructors to maintain consistent quality.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of math teaching, tutoring, or instructional experience.
- Strong understanding of Texas math standards, including TEKS, STAAR expectations, and Algebra I EOC expectations.
- Ability to teach core math concepts clearly across multiple levels, especially upper elementary, middle school, and Algebra I.
- Proven ability to build student confidence, explain concepts in multiple ways, and adjust instruction based on student needs.
- Strong communication skills with students, parents, and the academy leadership team.
- Reliable availability for after-school, evening, or weekend teaching hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Texas teaching certification in Mathematics 4-8, Mathematics 7-12, EC-6 with strong math experience, or a closely related certification.
- Experience teaching or tutoring in a small-group or one-on-one model.
- Experience with STAAR preparation, Algebra I EOC preparation, accelerated math, gifted students, or competition-style math.
- Experience creating lesson plans, scope and sequence documents, assessments, or math intervention plans.
- Comfort using technology, digital learning tools, and project-based teaching methods.
- Teaching experience in Prosper ISD, Frisco ISD, McKinney ISD, Celina ISD, or another North Texas district is a strong plus.
