Party Chief

Description:

MasTec Industrial is seeking an experienced Party Chief to lead field surveying activities on heavy industrial and civil construction projects. This role requires managing a survey crew, collecting accurate field data, and ensuring precise layout and as-built documentation to support construction operations. Projects are traveling-based across the U.S., typically 8-18 months per assignment, with per diem and mobilization support provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.

• Record and transmit survey results including shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land/features.

• Use and maintain surveying instruments, including theodolites, transits, levels, and GPS.

• Verify accuracy of survey data and make calculations for heights, depths, and positions.

• Conduct geodetic measurements and interpret survey data for topographic and installation features.

• Manage and mentor survey personnel, lead weekly onsite meetings, and ensure team alignment with project objectives.

• Perform special assignments as required, maintain professionalism, and continuously improve surveying skills.

• Meet project schedules and budgets while interacting cross-functionally with craft personnel and team members.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.

• Minimum 6 years of construction field experience in layout or surveying.

• Experienced with multiple types of survey equipment.

• Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project regulations.

• Ability to read blueprints, safety rules, and procedure manuals.

• Strong math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units).

• Physical capability to perform labor-intensive tasks, work outdoors, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate in varying weather conditions.

Work Hours:

• Full-time, typically 50 hours per week; schedule varies based on project requirements.
