Description:
A large, growth-focused utility company is seeking an experienced Real Estate Attorney to join its in-house legal team. This role will focus on providing legal counsel and transactional support for land acquisition, entitlement, and development efforts that underpin critical utility and infrastructure projects. The attorney will collaborate with developers, landowners, municipalities, and regulatory agencies—primarily in Texas—while ensuring all legal and business objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise on real estate transactions including acquisitions, easements, permitting, and land use matters.
Draft and negotiate key agreements: purchase/sale contracts, leases, development agreements, and easement documentation.
Conduct due diligence on title, zoning, environmental, and land entitlements.
Coordinate with internal teams, external counsel, title companies, and local authorities.
Interpret laws, regulations, and ordinances related to real estate and land development.
Support strategic land planning and compliance initiatives.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in Texas.
Minimum 5 years of real estate law experience; preference for background in infrastructure, utility, or development sectors.
Deep knowledge of Texas real estate law, permitting, land use regulations, and title issues.
Proven track record in handling complex transactions with multiple stakeholders.
Exceptional negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
Business-minded approach with strong legal judgment.
