Registered Nurse

Description:

Ochsner Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for the ICU on a full-time, day-shift basis. The role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care in accordance with the nursing process, the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN will act as a leader within the nursing team, effectively delegating and assisting licensed and ancillary staff, ensuring accountability for quality patient outcomes, and supporting unit and department strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver patient care using the nursing process and evidence-based practices.

• Assess learning needs and implement appropriate teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources, including human and fiscal responsibilities.

• Utilize data and information to evaluate and improve patient outcomes and nursing practices.

• Maintain sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity in all interactions.

• Participate in unit and department activities to achieve strategic goals.

• Stay current on federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain compliance with company standards of conduct, safety, and privacy protocols.

• Perform other duties as required to ensure high-quality patient care.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

• Required Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Preferred Certifications: Specialty area certification

Skills & Abilities:

• Proficiency with computers, software, and web-based applications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced ICU environment

Physical and Environmental Demands:

• Exerting 50–100 lbs occasionally, 25–50 lbs frequently, 10–20 lbs constantly

• Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and communicable diseases

• Occupational risk for hazardous medications or waste

• Sedentary, standing, walking, bending, pushing/pulling, and use of PPE as required
