Description:
Ochsner Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for the ICU on a full-time, day-shift basis. The role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care in accordance with the nursing process, the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN will act as a leader within the nursing team, effectively delegating and assisting licensed and ancillary staff, ensuring accountability for quality patient outcomes, and supporting unit and department strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver patient care using the nursing process and evidence-based practices.
Assess learning needs and implement appropriate teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources, including human and fiscal responsibilities.
Utilize data and information to evaluate and improve patient outcomes and nursing practices.
Maintain sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity in all interactions.
Participate in unit and department activities to achieve strategic goals.
Stay current on federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain compliance with company standards of conduct, safety, and privacy protocols.
Perform other duties as required to ensure high-quality patient care.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Required Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Certifications: Specialty area certification
Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency with computers, software, and web-based applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced ICU environment
Physical and Environmental Demands:
Exerting 50–100 lbs occasionally, 25–50 lbs frequently, 10–20 lbs constantly
Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and communicable diseases
Occupational risk for hazardous medications or waste
Sedentary, standing, walking, bending, pushing/pulling, and use of PPE as required
