Description:

O’Reilly Auto Parts is hiring a dedicated Paint Specialist for its South Glens Falls, NY location. This is a full-time, on-site role ideal for individuals with a background in automotive paint and bodywork who are eager to build strong customer relationships while delivering specialized service in paint product selection and technical support.

The Paint Specialist is responsible for supporting both retail and professional customers with their paint-related needs. This includes offering color matching expertise, using formula retrieval systems, mixing and tinting paints according to manufacturer specifications, and maintaining a clean and safe mixing environment. The specialist will also oversee PBE (Paint, Body, and Equipment) inventory, track product trends, and ensure proper customer pricing is loaded for all professional accounts.

Key responsibilities include implementing weekly customer call schedules, managing deliveries with the Installer Service Specialist, assisting with sales goal setting in collaboration with the Store Manager, and promoting company programs like Hi-5 and Low Price Guarantee. The Paint Specialist must also remain up to date with EPA and OSHA regulations relevant to the paint industry and complete FastTrack training modules.

Essential Duties:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail and professional PBE customers

  • Offer OEM color identification, formula lookup, and precision paint mixing

  • Manage paint room equipment, inventory checks, cycle counts, and merchandising

  • Coordinate deliveries and maintain service quality through communication with internal teams

  • Train and assist other store team members with PBE product and technical knowledge

  • Process sales transactions, returns, and handle customer service issues professionally

  • Maintain a clean and customer-friendly paint counter and work area

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to match alphanumeric sequences and multi-task in a busy retail environment

  • Friendly and professional customer service mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous automotive paint and body experience

  • Technical education in relevant fields

  • Bilingual, especially in Spanish
