Seasonal Kitchen Assistant

Description:

The Seasonal Kitchen Assistant supports the success of Sur La Table by assisting the Resident Chef in delivering high-quality cooking classes and exceptional customer service. This role requires a passion for cooking, entertaining, and inspiring customers on their culinary journey. The Kitchen Assistant helps with class preparation, product demonstrations, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide outstanding customer service by greeting and assisting guests.

• Support cooking classes by reinforcing techniques taught by the Resident Chef.

• Assist with ingredient shopping, preparation, and class setup.

• Demonstrate and share knowledge about products, gift registries, and services.

• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, wash dishes, and prepare for upcoming classes.

• Comply with Sur La Table policies, safety standards, and SOPs.

• Accurately record work hours according to company policy.

• Handle and serve liquor, wine, and beer when required.

• Perform additional duties assigned by the Resident Chef.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to remain standing for up to 3 hours and move around the store/classroom.

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work with open flames and varying kitchen temperatures.

• Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Valid Food Handlers and/or Food Managers Certification.

• Must be at least 21 years old.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year retail sales experience.

• 1 year food preparation and/or kitchen operations experience.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly pay: $16.00 – $18.04 (monthly equivalent: approx. $2,773 – $3,121).
